Maasepänpuukkos for sale. ( SOLD )

New set of maasepänpuukkos ready for sale. If you're not familiar with this type of knives, read the short write up from 2015

Here's few pics of me making similar knives earlier this year:

Like my maasepänpuukkos usually, these have oiled curly birch handle and carbon steel blade with forge finish sides. Semi pointy 80CrV2 tool steel blades have a scandi grind with no secondary. Zero grind is usually popular with green/soft wood carvers etc. Need sharpening more often, but cuts better. If you prefer your blade with a micro secondary, I'll make it on the blade. Brown leather sheaths with birch wood liners for the blade included.

These are the last knives I'll post for sale this year!

  1. Great knives and great blog!!

I'm curious: Do these knives require (besides keeping them sharp) maintenance? Does one have to oil both blade as handle from time to time? What about the sheath?

    Thank you!

  2. Thanks Don! Wooden handles would need some treatment occassionally. Oiling, or some like to wax them. I don't really oil my blades, just try to keep them dry. Some like to oil their blades as well, just remember to use some food grade oil if the knife is used with food. Same goes with the sheath, some leather cream sometimes wouldn't do any harm. Though have to admit I don't really do much anything for my own sheaths....

  3. Pasi, how do I purchase that Nr4 from you? I'd love to also get one of your Tuohipää puukkos when they become available again, but this one would definitely hold me over for the time being.

    1. Chris, please send me an email to Thanks!
